Don’t miss it on April 9 Sunday at 10 am. The UFC’s first event in Buffalo since 1995 now has a hard-hitting and highly anticipated main event, as Daniel Cormier will defend his world light heavyweight title for the second time on Apr. 8 against the man he won the title against, No. 1-contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, in the five-round UFC 210 headliner at KeyBank Center.
UFC 210 is all set to pop off from KeyBank Center on April 8, 2017 in Buffalo, New York and will feature a much-anticipated rematch between current Light Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier taking on Anthony Johnson.
Cormier initially defeated “Rumble” at UFC 187 back in 2015 to claim the vacant 205-pound title, and he hasn’t looked back since. But after reeling off three straight knockout victories, Johnson will have the chance to get some revenge.
In the co-main event, Gegard Mousasi will square off against Chris Weidman, who looks to erase the memory of back-to-back knockout losses to Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero.
Vasyl Lomachenko is Not Taking Jason Sosa Lightly
Super Featherweight sensation Vasyl Lomachenko (7-1, 5 KOs) has compared his aspirations of fighting the Lightweight World Champions to his dream of winning two Olympic gold medals in the amateurs. On April 8th he defends his WBO World Title against Jason Sosa at the MGM National Habor in Maryland, live on BoxNation. Ahead of the fight he spoke to journalists about the fight, as well as possibly moving up in weight. “It will be a great and interesting fight,” he said. “When you’re fighting an easier opponent, you can relax before the fight. But when you fight this fighter [Sosa], he can surprise you. –
In the weight class above, the likes of Terry Flanagan, Mikey Garcia and Jorge Linares all hold a portion of the throne. A match-up with one of those three men would give Lomachenko the chance to become a three-weight World Champion. Flanagan in particular recently revealed that he would love a fight with the 29-year-old. When questioned on how much he yearns for those huge fights up at Lightweight, Lomachenko responded: “Very similar to when I wanted the two gold medals,” referring to his success at the Beijing and London Olympics. After an impeccable career in the unpaid ranks, Lomachenko turned pro and lifted a World Title in just his third bout. Many place the Ukrainian highly in the pound-for-pound rankings, and during the interview he was asked who he believes are the top three fighters in the world today. “Triple G, [Sergey] Kovalev, and Terence Crawford,” was his reply, referencing two of his fellow ‘Beasts from the East’ in Golovkin and Kovalev. –
